FAQ
Q: How long have you been doing photography?
A: I've been doing photography since 11th grade in high school, so over a decade now. Photography for me started out as a hobby and then it transitioned to a business specializing in weddings in the last 6-7 years. Since the summer of 2018, I started going into my business full-time and absolutely love it!
Q: How far in advanced should we book you for a wedding?
A: Historically couples are able to get their dates 1-1.5 years in advanced. Any less than this and there's a possibility that I may already booked for your date. Fingers crossed that I am not but if so, I have a good list of photographers that I know and can refer you to.
Q: What is the process for booking you?
A: Typically I like to either sit-down and meet in-person with my clients or discuss via phone about your wedding day/timeline, engagement shoot, my packages, and other logistics. If you decide to move forward and book with me, I require a signed contract and a 50% retainer with the remaining 50% due 1 week before your wedding date. From the time you book me until 1 week before your wedding, we will communicate either through e-mail or phone and work together to refine your wedding day timeline and go through your shot list.
Q: Where are you based in? Do you travel?
A: I am based in Minneapolis, MN but do travel back and forth often in the nearby states of Iowa and Wisconsin. And yes! I do travel! I have traveled around the midwest, out west/east coast, and abroad in Europe for weddings and engagements.
Q: Do you always have a second shooter at weddings?
A: All my packages do include a second shooter - having a second shooter provides flexibility and additional angles and images of the day. For example, a main photographer can be capturing getting ready photos of the bride while the second shooter is with the groom. Or during the ceremony, the main photographer can be shooting down the middle of the aisle while the second shooter is capturing angles from the sides. Sometimes though it is not necessary to have a second shooter, especially in smaller weddings.
Q: What’s in your photography gear?
A: Canon 5d Mark IV, Canon R5, Sigma Art 35mm 1.4, Canon 100mm 2.8, 24-70mm 2.8, 70-200mm 2.8, and a 50 mm 1.8. And all sorts of speedlights/spotlights to be prepared for any lighting situation!
Q: Do you shoot video as well?
A: Unfortunately, videography is not a strong suit for me. But I'd be happy to refer you to videographers who would be happy to work with you.
Q: What is the turn around time for photos?
A: Please expect 5-10 weeks after your session date. Summer/fall tends to be the busiest for photos and therefore it may take some time for photos to be completed. But I will at least share some previews for you and your family and friends to enjoy right away.
Q: How do you advertise yourself?
A: The best form of advertisement is when... it's FREE. I gain all of my clients through word of mouth and through my own social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat). I've have not had a spend a single penny to reach my clients. I truly believe that when clients see my work and they resonate with my work, they will book me for the right reasons.
